MSC announces the Board’s decisions to address shark finning as part of upcoming Standard Review and summaries its findings with regard to ‘”Fins Naturally Attached’ policies, which require the whole shark to be landed, not just its fins. We recently conducted a survey of global fishery managers and governments to see if there has been progress in science and management of shark finning that could be used to update our Standard. Out of 25 management agencies that responded, 14 (56%) had a Fins Naturally Attached policy.”
