An interesting article which includes an interview with MSC Nordic representative Gisli Gislason, who admits that “several MSC fisheries in the world are having problems in fulfilling certification requirements when international fisheries agreements are involved”. Three Norwegian fisheries for pelagic fish species have already lost the label: mackerel in 2019, and at the end of last year, blue whiting and NVG herring followed. As of April 26, 2021 cod and haddock fished inside Norway’s 12 nautical mile limit will also be suspended.
